13 new COVID-19 cases in the Hunter, as state numbers appear to stabilise

13 new COVID cases have been detected across the Hunter, in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday night.

The Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland local government areas have all recorded new cases.

By Suburb the new cases are from Maryville 4, Merewether 2, Newcastle East 1, New Lambton 1, Tarro 1, Dora Creek 1, Mount Hutton 1, West Wallsend and Metford 1.

Nine of the new cases were infectious while in the community, two were isolating while in factious and two remain under investigation.

The states numbers appear to be stabilising with 1083 cases recorded today, down from the 1131 cases recorded on Saturday, 1284 recorded on Friday and 1351 recorded on Thursday.

Dr Jeremy McAnulty from NSW Health says its too early to say whether the peak has been reached, but says it's pleasing to see the numbers declining.

A number of COVID exposure sites have been listed overnight including at Gateshead, Adamstown, Mayfield and Toronto.

Anyone who attended the following venues at the specified dates and times is considered a casual contact and must get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.

  • PRP Diagnostic Imaging, Adamstown on Tuesday 14 September between 8:20am - 9:30am
  • Woolworths Mayfield 
    • Saturday 11 September between 8:10pm - 8:40pm
    • Sunday 12 September between 8:05pm - 8:45pm
  • Simply Pharmacy, Toronto
    • Tuesday 14 September between 4:10pm - 4:30pm
    • Wednesday 15 September between 12:15pm - 12:45pm
