Three men arrested over armed robbery in Lake Macquarie

BY JARROD MELMETH

Three men have been charged over an armed robbery at Bonnells Bay on Sunday.

Police were called to a home on Wood Street following reports the men had threatened the occupant of the home with a firearm and demanded money, where they were told the men had fled in a grey Holden Commodore.

A 22-year-old man was arrested a short time later after police spotted the vehicle at a service station on Fishing Point Road at Fishing Point.

The other two men, both 20-years-old, were found at an address on Grand Parade at Bonnells Bay, where they were both arrested.

Officers conducted a search of the property and surrounding bushland with the assistance of the Police Dog Unit where they located a backpack containing two firearms.

The three men were taken to Toronto Police Station where they were charged with demand money with menace in company and use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.

They were refused bail to appear in Toronto Local Court on Monday.

Investigations are continuing.
