Five of six new Hunter COVID-19 cases infectious in the community

The Hunter has recorded six new cases of COVID-19, bringing the regions total to 189 since August 5.

The new cases are in Swansea Heads, Catherine Hill Bay, Belmont, Whitebridge, Jesmond and Elemore Vale.

Concerningly, the cases in Swansea Heads, Catherine Hill Bay, Belmont, Whitebridge and Jesmond were all infectious while in the community.

Health authorities say five of the new cases are linked to existing cases, while one remains under investigation.

A previously reported case at Windale on Tuesday has now been removed from the regions case numbers due to a false positive. 

 New COVID exposure sites have been listed at Whitebridge and Charlestown overnight. Anyone who attended the following venues at the specified dates and times is considered a casual contact and must get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.

  • Whitebridge Cellars on Friday 27 August between 3:45pm - 3:50pm & Saturday 28 August between 4pm - 4:05pm
  • Charlestown Medical and Dental Centre on Monday 23 August between 9am - 10am
  • Aldi, Raymond Terrace on Thursday 26 August between 6:58pm - 7:28pm
  • Coles, Cessnock on Friday 27 August between 8:35am - 8:45am
