Transport Identified As a Major Issue For Wallsend Residents

BY CATHERINE ALLEN

State Member for Wallsend, Ms Sonia Hornery MP held a mobile office today outside of Waratah cafe ZoRiley's.

The mobile office gave Wallsend residents the opportunity to discuss their concerns with the MP.

"It is important to listen to what our community is saying and my mobile office gives the people of Wallsend Electorate a chance to talk to me about what is important to them."

Ms Horney told 2NURFM that the most prevalent issue locals discussed is the bus routes from Wallsend to important Newcastle locations such as; Westfield Kotara and the John Hunter Hospital.

"A number of the locals are having are having difficulty getting to services such as Kotara and their appointments in that area because its about three bus services that they need to catch."

Residents also commented on the increase in local crime and the on-going problems with parking at John Hunter Hospital.

Ms Hornery assured locals that she will take these issues to parliament in an effort to resolve them.

"I'll definitely be writing to the minister about specific services and more frequent services," Ms Hornery said.

The next mobile office will be held next Saturday on Newton Street in Beresfield.

Ms Hornery also invites any constituents who are unable to attend these sessions to contact her office directly on 4950 0955.
