A man has been taken to the John Hunter Hospital after a single vehicle accident at Salamander Bay overnight.
Police believe wet conditions led up to the vehicle losing control as it crossed to the other side of the road around 9:45pm, hitting the curb and skidding for 50 metres before flipping on its side.
There were three occupants in the car at the time, with a man sitting in the back seat sustaining injuries to his pelvis and chest.
He's now in a stable condition, with John Hunter doctors finding the injuries weren't as bad as first thought.
The male driver was breath tested, and police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which left the car with extensive damage.
Nelson Bay Police are urging motorists to drive not only to the speed limit, but to wet conditions.
