International Students to Begin New Program

BY CHELSEA EDWARDS

The University of Newcastle is receiving a $44,000 investment from the state government to support 70 international students.

The University's program 'Upskill Through Wil'  gives international students the opportunity to participate in work experience in the local community, including organisations such as I2N Innovation HUB, Varley Group, Merewether Golf Club, PRIDE Consulting and Fresh Marketing.

Manager of international student engagement at the university, Lauren Miles says "This project will add additional support for international students to engage with local industry.

"We want the international students to have exposure to real work experience in the Australian context and to engage with the city of Newcastle more broadly".
