Police are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at Waratah last night.
Police say a 15-year-old boy was walking with a few friends in a back street between the Callaghan College and Waratah Oval at about 9pm when he was confronted by a man who pulled out a pistol and demanded the boys' jacket and mobile phone.
His terrified friends fled while the boy complied with the demand.
Inspector Michael Goman says the boy made his way to Waratah Railway Station and called police.
"The offender we're looking for is described as being aged between 20 and 30, 170-175 centimetres tall wit a slim build, grey jacket and pants and a face covering - possibly a balaclava or ski mask," he said.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
