Consumers Warned Not To Deal With Hunter-based Paving And Building Supply Business

BY IAN CROUCH

Fair Trading Minister, Matt Kean has issued a warning to consumers not to deal with a Hunter-based paving and building supply retailer or its sole director.

The Department of Fair Trading has received  more than 80 complaints about Hunterstone Australia and its director, Azad Mortazavi who operates a factory depot at Heatherbrae as well as Sunshine in Victoria.

Fair Trading says the business accepts full upfont payments from consumers, but fails to deliver products or takes far too long to supply them - and when they do finally arrive, they're often of poor quality.

So far the value of consumer detriment based on the number of complaints is about $250,000.

"The trader is also charging customers significant amounts for restocking fees when refunds are requested, and sometimes the company refuses refunds altogether," Mr Kean said.
