Armed Robbery On Mayfield West Service Station and Teen Boys Stuck On Roof After Alleged Break-In At New Lambton

An investigation is under way after an armed robbery on a Mayfield West service station last night.

Police say at about 9.45pm on Monday 28 September 2026, a man entered the Shell outlet on Maud Street and threatened the attendant with a  knife before leaving with cash.

The worker was not injured and police have established a crime scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Meanwhile, three boys have become stuck on the roof of a tobacconist shop in New Lambton after they allegedly tried to make off with goods valued at more than $60,000. 

Police were called to the Alma Road shop just before 1.00am today (Tuesday 29 September, 2026) and arrested the trio - two boys aged 16 and one aged 17.

All three were taken to Newcastle Police Station where they were charged with aggravated break and enter in company - steal more than $60,000.

They've been granted conditional bail to face the Children's Court on October 19.

Police Release CCTV Footage Of Alleged Getaway Driver In Commonwealth Hotel Armed Robbery

Police have released CCTV footage of a man and a vehicle which they believe were involved in the violent armed robbery on the Commonwealth Hotel at Cooks Hill two years ago.

Last week, 37-year-old John Jarrett and 32-year-old Marley Tiopira were each gaoled for a maximum of 7 years after storming the pub in the early hours of February 28, 2024 armed with a machete and baseball bat respectively.

It's alleged a getaway driver assaulted a cleaner before all three men escaped with $125,000 in a white Mercedes A190 hatchback with damage on the rear left side passenger door.

The third man was wearing a hooded jumper, baseball cap, tracksuit pants and black shoes with a distinctive while mark or stain on the right shoe.

Police believe this man can assist with their inquiries

 

CCTV Footage Released Of Muswellbrook Robbery Suspects

Detectives are appealing for information as an investigation continues into the robbery of a Muswellbrook bottle shop earlier this year.

At around 10pm Friday 22 May, police were called to a business on the corner of Maitland Road and Sydney Street. 

It was reported three people forced entry into the bottle shop and assaulted an employee before stealing alcohol. 

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced. 

Following inquiries, a 17-year-old boy was arrested at Muswellbrook Police Station the following Monday. 

He was charged with robbery in company and 10 unrelated offences, including break and enter and vehicles charges. 

The 17-year-old was granted conditional bail at a children's court the same day and is next due to appear in September. 

CCTV images have been released of a woman police believe might be able to assist with inquiries. 

She is depicted wearing a dark-coloured hoodie, with black pants and white sneakers. 

Footage was also released of a black Holden Cruze sedan seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Police Investigate Armed Robbery At Hamilton Service Station

Police are searching for two men over a brazen armed robbery at Hamilton.

Around 2.00am today (Tuesday 12 May 2026) it's alleged the pair entered a service station on Tudor Street, one of them armed with a screwdriver.

Police say the armed man threatened the attendant before the pair stole money and cigarettes and left the store.

The worker wasn't injured during the incident.

Police have set up a crime scene as investigations continue.

They're asking anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage of the pair to contact Newcastle Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

 

  

BREAKING! Eleebana Resident Robbed At Knifepoint

A man has been robbed at knifepoint by two strangers in an early-morning break-in at Eleebana.

Police say the man was working in his garage at the Mildura Close home just before 1.00am today (Wednesday 22 April 2026) when two men armed with knives entered through the open garage door and demanded cash.

The pair left with cash and keys in a white SUV believed to have been stolen earlier.

Police say the man's wife and three young children were at home when the incident occurred.

While left shaken, neither the man or his family were injured.

The men are described as being of Caucasian appearance, in their early to mid 20's, wearing hooded jumpers, gloves, pants and wearing face masks - one white and the other blue.

Police are searching for a man who allegedly threatened a service station worker with a knife at Kurri Kurri overnight.

Police say the man walked into the Lang Street business at about 9.45pm in Tuesday 4 November, 2025 and was confronted by an employee after he was seen attempting to steal items.

It's alleged the worker was threatened with a knife before the man left the store with the items.

The employee, a 24-year-old man, wasn't injured.

Two Men Arrested Over Alleged Armed Robbery On Mayfield Business

Two men are behind bars following an investigation into an alleged armed robbery on a Mayfield fast food store in August.

Police say around 11.30pm on Monday August 18 two men entered the Dominos store on Maitland Road and threatened staff with a firearm before leaving with cash.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives and Tactical Response Police raided a home on Mulga Street at Windale at about 9.30pm on Tuesday September 30, 2025 and allegedly located a firearm, clothing and electronics.

Two men aged 25 and 28 were arrested at the home and taken to Belmont Police Station.

Both were charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.

The younger man was also charged in relation to an alleged break and enter on the same business in February where cash, keys and a car was stolen.

Both men have been refused bail to front Newcastle Local Court on November 11. 

 

Pair Face Court Over Alleged Armed Robbery Of Newcastle Hotel

Police allege a wig-wearing armed robber had help from an employee of a Hamilton hotel before making off with tens of thousands of dollars.

Just after 3.30am on Friday September 12, police allege a man wearing a Tina Turner wig entered the Sydney Junction Hotel on Beaumont Street armed with a firearm before leaving on an e-bike ridden by another person.

Police executed a search warrant at a storage unit in Waratah West last Wednesday and allegedly found $30,020 in cash.

They also searched a home in James Street Hamilton, finding an e-scooter and helmet.

Inquiries led to the arrest of 46-year-old Christopher James Barsley.

He faced court on Friday September 26 charged with special aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence, and acquiring a firearm while subject to a prohibition order. 

Barsley has been remanded in custody. 

Police also arrested 44-year-old Evie Grace on Friday.

She faced court on Saturday charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence. Police allege Grace, an employee of the hotel, was working at the time of the hold-up and assisted in the incident.

Grace was granted strict conditional bail 

Both have had their cases adjourned until November.

SYDNEY JUNCTION HOTEL HOLD UP – Police Appeal to Locate Men

Police are still on the lookout for two men who allegedly held up the Sydney Junction Hotel at around 3:40am on Friday September 12.

Officers were called to the premises and told a man allegedly threatened staff with a pistol before taking a significant amount of cash and fleeing west on Hudson Street on an e-bike with another man.

Acting Superintendent Kristen Marshall says new CCTV footage has been released, and shows two men with bizarre accessories.

“The first male is described as wearing dark clothing. He has a black face mask and has a very [distinguishable] brown and blonde long-haired wig. The second male is described as wearing dark clothing, wearing a white helmet, white shoes and riding a black e-bike.

“At this stage we’re just looking at it as an isolated incident and obviously that investigation is underway at the moment,” she said.

Young Boy Allegedly Holds Up Mayfield Service Station

A boy as young as 10-years-old is believed responsible for a brazen armed robbery at Mayfield overnight.

Police say the boy walked into the Coles Express on Maitland Road just before 9.00pm on Wednesday and threatened the attendant with a knife before escaping with two cartons of milk.

The worker was unharmed and police are reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to identify the alleged culprit.

 

 

Man To Face Court Over Alleged Armed Robbery On Stockton Hotel

A man is due to face court today (Tuesday 27 May, 2025) over an alleged armed robbery on a Stockton hotel.

It's alleged the 30-year-old entered the Boatrowers Hotel on Fullerton Street just before 8.00pm on Saturday and threatened patrons before demanding cash from staff.

It's further alleged he stabbed a 68-year-old man during the incident - the victim left the hotel and later attended John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

Patron held the 30-year-old until Police arrived.

It's alleged he had several weapons on him including a gel blaster firearm.

He's been charged with five offences including robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

 The man's been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today.

Man Charged Over Alleged Service Station Robberies In Newcastle

A man is due to front court today accused of robbing two service stations in Newcastle overnight.

Police say a man entered a service station on Parry Street at Newcastle West at about 7.30pm on Sunday and asked the store attendant to use the restroom.

When he returned it's alleged he had his face covered and demanded money from the worker, taking an amount of cash before leaving.

In a separate incident, a man entered a service station on Maitland Road at Mayfield just before 11.00pm and threatened the attendant who activate the alarm and alerted police.

The man was able to unlock the doors and fled.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 24-year-old man at a unit on Fowler Street at Hamilton South.

He was taken to Newcastle Police Station and charged with demand property with menaces, robbery and breach of bail. He was also charged with common assault and shoplifting for unrelated matters.

He's been refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Monday 19 May, 2025) .

 

Man Arrested Over Alleged Armed Robbery On The Jewells Tavern

Police have made a breakthrough in their investigation into an armed robbery on a pub at Jewells last month.

It's alleged a man forced his way into the Jewells Tavern on Ntaba Road at about 3pm on Tuesday March 25 and threatened staff with a broken bottle before escaping with cash.

Earlier this week, detectives released an image of a man they wished to question in relation to the incident.

Inquiries led them to an address on Doongara Close at Jewells on Thursday where they arrested a 31-year-old man.

He's been charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon and refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today (Friday 11 April, 2025).

 
 

Images Released As Part Of Investigation Into Two Armed Robberies In Newcastle

A police investigation is underway following two armed robberies in Newcastle which officers believe are linked.

At about 5:40am last Tuesday a man believed to be with a firearm entered a business on Glebe Road at Adamstown and demanded cash, with police told he left without any.

On Thursday last week a man entered a service station in New Lambton.

About 1:30am officers were called to the 7-Eleven on Turton Road, where they were told a man allegedly threatened an employee with a weapon, before leaving with cash.

As part of their investigation police have released two images of a man they wish to speak with.

He's described as being of Caucasian appearance and when last seen he was wearing a hooded black jumper with his face covered, and black pants.

Appeal for information after armed robbery in Rutherford

Police are appealing for information and would like to speak with a man as investigations continue into an attempted armed robbery in Rutherford.

About 11.30pm yesterday (Monday 5 August 2024), police were called to a home on Waterworks Road, following reports of an attempted armed robbery.

On arrival, officers were told a man had threatened a 64-year-old man with a knife and demanded he hand over the property; when the 64-year-old refused, the other man left the scene.

Police believe the incident may be related to reported break and enters which occurred on the same road on Monday 22 July, Thursday 25 July, and Friday 2 August 2024.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He's described as being about 187cm tall with medium build and light brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a dark grey hooded jumper, light grey tracksuit pants and dark shoes, and may be wearing reading glasses.

Anyone with information is urged to call Port Stephens-Hunter Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police Investigate Armed Robbery At Tanilba Bay

Police are searching for a man who held up a Port Stephens bottle shop at gunpoint.

Police say the man entered the store on President Wilson Walk at Tanilba Bay just before 7.00pm on Sunday and threatened a female staff member with a handgun while demanding cash.

He was given an amount of money before running off.

Police say the worker was shaken but otherwise unharmed.

Detectives are viewing CCTV footage in a bid to identify the culprit.
