Woman Killed In Pedestrian Crash At Wyee

Lake Macquarie police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash at Wyee overnight.

Just after 7.00pm on Sunday 31 May, emergency services were called to Wyee Road near Bethshan Street to reports a pedestrian had been struck by a black sedan.

Paramedics treated a 45-year-old woman but she couldn't be revived - she is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 40's, was taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.

 

Man Arrested Following Fatal Kooragang Crash

A third driver has come forward following a fatal two-vehicle crash at Kooragang this morning. 

At about 9.25am, emergency services were called to Cormorant Road, following reports of a crash.

At the scene, police were told a sedan and van had collided head-on in the northbound lanes. 

NSW Ambulance paramedics assisted the two occupants of the sedan; however, they died at the scene. 

They are yet to be formally identified. 

The driver of the van was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and taken to John Hunter Hospital for assessment and mandatory testing. 

Following the crash, at 9.45am, a 42-year-old man attended Waratah Police Station allegedly reporting he was involved in the crash. 

The man was arrested and taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing. 

He stated he was not in either of the vehicles, with his involvement in the crash still being investigated by Newcastle City Police with assistance by the Crash Investigation Unit. 

As inquiries continue, police urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. 

Two Riders Critically Injured In Separate Crashes In Newcastle

A man and woman remain in Intensive Care in the John Hunter Hospital following separate crashes overnight involving an E-Bike and a motorcycle in Newcastle.

Police say just after 10.00pm on Wednesday 22 October, a 26-year-old woman was riding an E-Bike on Cowper Street North at Carrington when she collided with a parked caravan near Bourke Street.

Then just before 12.30am on Thursday 23 October, a 27-year-old man crashed his motorbike into a roundabout on Denison Street at Hamilton.

Police say despite both riders wearing helmets, each suffered significant head injuries and were taken to the John Hunter in a critical condition.

Investigators are looking into whether speed and/or alcohol were factors in the crashes.

 

Woman Critical After Multi-Vehicle Crash At Glen Oak

Emergency services have been called to a serious a multi-vehicle crash at Glen Oak.

It's understood 3 cars collided on Clarence Town Road  just before 7.00anm on Monday.

NSW Ambulance says the drivers of two of the cars suffered minor injuries but a woman driving a third car was trapped after her vehicle collided with a tree.

It took about an hour to free her from the wreckage. 

She's being flown to hospital in a critical condition by the Hunter's Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

 

BREAKING! Crash Closes Pacific Highway Southbound At Doyalson

A high speed single vehicle crash has closed the southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway at Doyalson.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Wentworth Avenue just before 4.00am on Wednesday to find a car had crashed into a pole power.

Fire and Rescue says the car split in two on impact and the driver fled the scene.

A 22-year-old man has since been located at an address in San Remo - he's been taken to the John Hunter Hospital with suspected facial fractures.

The power pole has been compromised and is split at the base.

Energy repair crews have been called to the scene.

 

BREAKING! Bus Crash Emergency Unfolding At Mount View

Emergency services have been called to reports of a mini bus crash at Mount View.

NSW Ambulance says it's understood 6 people were on board the bus when it crashed off Mount View Road at about 10.30am on Wednesday.

One male is reported to be seriously injured.

Multiple ambulance and rescue crews have been dispatched to the scene along with 2 helicopters.

 

Teen Charged Over Horrific Crash At Woodberry

Police have now laid charges against a teenage boy who was allegedly behind the wheel of a stolen car with five other teens on board which crashed at Woodberry early yesterday morning (Wednesday 25 June, 2025).

Police say a Honda Jazz was stolen from an East Maitland address around 4.00am with a routine patrol spotting the car on Woodberry Road and giving chase when the vehicle failed to stop.

Less than a minute later, the car ran off the road and crashed into a tree.

Two of the teenagers including the alleged driver, a 15 year-old boy suffered serious fractures.

Local resident, Leonie Carter has told Seven News it was a chaotic scene.

" They were screaming, they were crying. It was horrific scenes. Two children were trapped in the car at the time and there was four out on the footpath," she said.

The 15-year-old boy was arrested after being released from hospital.

He's been charged with four offences including two counts of being carried in a conveyance without consent of owner, aggravated break and enter in company and breach of bail.

He's been refused bail to face the Children's Court today (Thursday 26 June, 2025).

A 15-year-old girl was also arrested and has been dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

BREAKING! Six Under-18's To Hospital After Alleged Police Pursuit And Crash At Woodberry

Six young people have been taken to hospital following an alleged police pursuit and crash at Woodberry.

It's understood police had been chasing a vehicle just before 4.30am today (Wednesday 25 June, 2025) when it left the road and crashed into a tree at the intersection of Woodberry Road and Homebush Drive.

Police say the vehicle had earlier been reported stolen during an aggravated break and enter on a home at East Maitland.

NSW Ambulance says there were six young people in the vehicle aged between 14 and 16 - it's believed none of them were wearing seat belts.

The alleged driver, a 15-year-old boy, sustained suspected fractured ribs, a head injury and a suspected pelvic injury.

A 14-year-old girl sustained a broken leg and suspected pelvic injuries.

The other four passengers have been taken to hospital as a precaution.

 

Serious Crash At Argenton

Emergency services have been called to a serious crash at Argenton.

NSW Ambulance says a 29-year-old man has been hit by a car on Lake Road near Margaret Street, suffering serious multiple injuries.

Paramedics have stabilised his condition and have transported hi. to the John Hunter Hospital.

Traffic on Lake Road is affected in both directions and is down to one lane past the crash scene

 

P-Plater Fined After Serious Crash At Raymond Terrace

Four people have had a lucky escape from serious injury and a P-Plater has been fined following a crash at Raymond Terrace on Wednesday night.

Police say a Nissan X-Trail was travelling southbound on the Pacific Highway just before midnight when the driver swerved to avoid a slow moving vehicle and crashed at high speed into the cable barrier on the median strip.

It's believed the car overturned before coming to rest on it's wheels.

Two men and two women were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Meanwhile a 19-year-old man has been fined $544 and lost 3 demerit points after speeding through the crash scene at more than 100 km/hr.

Police say drivers are required to slow down to a safe speed when driving past crashes and traffic incidents on the highway. 

 

Man Trapped For Two Hours After Crash At Fullerton Cove

A man has been trapped for 2 hours following a single vehicle crash at Fullerton Cove early Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to Nelson Bay Road between Fullerton Cove Road and Coxs Lane just after 3.00am.

They found a car crashed off the road and overturned at high speed, rolling down a 1 metre embankment and coming to rest against a tree.

The driver, a 27-year-old man, was trapped by confinement and could not be reached by paramedics.

The Port Stephens SES was called in and released the man from the wreckage just after 5.00am.

He's been taken by road ambulance to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition with suspected spinal injuries and a dislocated shoulder.

 There's been a crash on Croudace bay Road at Valentine Public School, still affecting some southbound traffic.

At about 6:30am officers were called to the scene following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

Police and ambulance found a man understood to be in his 70s, with serious injuries.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition. The driver of the car, believed to be in his 60s, is assisting with inquiries.

Elderly Man Taken To Hospital After Bus and Car Crash At Waratah

An elderly man has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a bus and a car at Waratah.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Turton Road and Georgetown Road just before 11.00am on Tuesday to reports a BMW hatchback had collided with a bus.

 The driver of the car was trapped, and fire crews removed the side of the vehicle to free him.

NSW Ambulance says the elderly man was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition with leg and chest injuries.

Three people on the bus were assessed by paramedics and declined further treatment.

The southbound lanes of Turton Road were closed for more than an hour while emergency services treated the injured man and worked to clear the scene.  

Driver Charged Over Horrific Crash In Hunter Economic Zone

An 18-year-old man will face court in April over a crash in the Hunter Economic Zone at the weekend which left seven people in hospital.

Police say a Subaru Liberty spun out of control during a street race on Bromage Road just after midnight on Sunday, colliding with six people including two girls aged 8 and 10.

All six and the driver were taken to hospital - the 8-year-old remains in the John Hunter with suspected internal injuries.

The 18-year-old driver has now been charged with six offences including two counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manager dangerous, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, not wearing a seatbelt and use light vehicle not comply with tyres standard.

He's been issued a court attendance notice to face Kurri Kurri Court on April 29.

BREAKING! Man Hit By Car At Belmont

Emergency services have been called to a serious crash at Belmont.

First reports say a man in his 20's has been hit by a car on the Pacific Highway at the intersection of Gen Street.

He's reported to be in a serious condition with a head injury.

Traffic is heavy past the scene in both directions on the southbound lanes have been closed.

 

Two Men Taken To Hospital After Serious Crash At Richmond Vale

Two men have been taken to hospital after a single car crash at Richmond Vale overnight.

Emergency services were called to George Booth Drive about 100 metres from the Orica exit just before 7.00pm where a car had left the road and crashed into a tree at high speed.

The 18-year-old driver managed to climb out of the wrecked car, however his passenger, also aged 18,  was trapped for about 30 minutes before being freed and airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition with chest and pelvic injuries.

The driver was taken by road ambulance to the John Hunter for treatment of non-life threatening injuries

Investigations into the crash are continuing.

Man Charged With 11 Offences Over Wild Pursuit And Crash At Wickham

A 26-year-old man is due to face Newcastle Local Court today (Wednesday 15 January, 2025) charged with 11 offences after a wild police pursuit and crash at Wickham.

Just after 6.00pm on Tuesday Police attempted to stop an SUV at Waratah West which had been reported stolen.

The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

The chase continued for some time before the SUV collided with a motorcycle and a police vehicle at the intersection of Maitland Road and Sheddon and Albert Streets at about 6.30pm.

The rider, a 27-year-old man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The police officers in the caged truck were not injured after their vehicle ended up on its side.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

He's been refused bail and charged with 11 offences including Police Pursuit, being carried in a conveyance without consent of owner, possess shortened firearm, possess loaded firearm, drug possession, goods in custody and resisting arrest.

A second man in the SUV fled the scene and is still on the run.

BREAKING! Two People To Hospital After Car Rolls At Nelsons Plains

Two people have been taken to hospital following a single vehicle crash at Nelsons Plains near Raymond Terrace early today.

In a statement, Police say the vehicle left Raymond Terrace Road near the Seaham Road intersection and overturned at about 12.45am on Friday.

Police, Ambulance, RFS and SES crews were called to the incident.

A 22-year-old male passenger was trapped in the wreckage before being freed and taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition with multiple injuries.

The driver, a woman in her early 20's, was also taken to the John Hunter with minor shoulder and chest injuries and will undergo mandatory alcohol and drug tests.

Raymond Terrace Road has been reopened to traffic after being examined by crash investigators.  

Woman Charged With High Range Drink Driving After Crash At Singleton Heights

A woman has a date in court next month following a crash at Singleton Heights overnight.

Police were called to Gardner Circuit just before 9.30pm on Tuesday where two cars had collided.

No-one was injured however both cars needed to be towed.

Police say a 31-year-old woman driving one of the vehicles was breath tested and allegedly returned a high range reading.

She's been handed a court attendance notice to face Singleton Court on January 30.

 

Teen Charged Over Maitland Crash

Police have charged a teenager following a serious crash at Maitland on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to The Long Bridge on High Street after a motorbike and an allegedly stolen Toyota Hilux utility collided.

A 58-year-old  man who was riding the bike suffered a traumatic leg injury and was taken to the John Hunter Hospital for surgery.

A 16-year-old boy allegedly driving the ute was taken to Maitland Hospital under police guard.

Officers attended the hospital yesterday (Wednesday 6 November, 2024) where they charged the boy with a raft of offences including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
