The community will come together tomorrow to discuss a proposed Marine Park for Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie.
The plans include introducing protected zones around the coast preventing commercial and recreational fishing, in a bid to protect marine life.
Swansea MP Yasmin Catley says there's been a lack of consultation on the idea, and is urging people to attend a public meeting with the Department of Primary Industries and Department of Environment and Heritage.
It's on at Blacksmiths Surf Life Saving Club on Saturday 8th September at 2pm.
