The committal hearing for Hamilton man Benjamin Batterham has drawn to a close, with the 34-year-old now facing a certain murder trial over the death of home intruder Ricky Slater Dixon.
Over the past 4 days at Newcastle Local Court, six medical experts have given testimony in an effort to settle the causation issue of the case - whether it was ice ingestion, obesity, a pre-existing heart condition or the choke hold Mr Batterham placed on Mr Dixon which killed him.
Magistrate David Price has concluded a jury couldn't be satisfied Mr Batterham's actions weren't at least a significant cause of the death.
The Herald reports he'll next face the Sydney Supreme Court in November.
