Lake Macquare Council has given the green light to one of the tallest NBN towers in the country.
The 55-metre tower is set to be erected on private property on Wyee Farms Road at Wyee and provide wireless NBN coverage to areas not served by fixed line services.
The monopole will be nine times higher than the maximum building height for the area - but this is needed to achieve a line of sight back to a fixed fibre hub further to the south.
Councillors voted 10-1 to approve the tower despite concerns from one nearby resident about visual impact.
