Man Dies Following Double Shooting Near Dungog

A man who suffered a gunshot wound following a domestic dispute near Dungog on Mother's Day has died in hospital.

Emergency crews were called to a property on Bingleburra Road at about midday on Sunday following reports two men had been shot.

It's reported the stepbrothers aged 35 and 28 became involved in an altercation during a family gathering when the older man was shot in the chest.

The younger brother fled and was found nearby with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head - he was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition but died on Monday afternoon.

The older man remains in a stable condition in the John Hunter.
