Concerns over Steamfest

By DANIELLE RIES

Maitland's well-renowned Steamfest needs more funds channelled into the event to stop it from going into decline.

Steamfest attracts over 60 thousand people to Maitland is estimated to inject $11 million into the local economy annually.

But increasing costs present a challenge to attempt to continue to deliver a quality event to the community.

Maitland's councillor Peter Garnham says the community and council are right behind this event.

"The business across the city supports steamfest," he said.

"The major sponsor is Burton Family Automotive Group and without support and the communities involved,  the event wouldn't happen.

"The community supports. The council supports it. Everyone says it's a good time."

Steamfest is a wonderful community event and is fast approaching.
