The search continues for a man who approached four boys at Jesmond.
The boys aged between 10 and 12 were walking home from school along Wilkinson Street just after 3.00pm yesterday when the man walked up and started speaking to one of them - however the boys became frightened and ran to a nearby church where they called their parents.
The man's described as being in his 30's, overweight with a dark complexion, short hair and a beard. He was wearing black pants, a white shirt and rectangular spectacles and spoke with a slight accent.
Anyone who was on Wilkinson Avenue at about 3.00pm or may have seen the man is urged contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
