Police are looking for a man who held up the Hungry Jacks at Jesmond with a box-cutter knife last night.
At around 5:45pm the man entered the store and attempted to rob a 63 year old woman in the queue. He then jumped over the counter and forced staff to open the register while he threatened a 15 year old female employee.
He left with a small amount of cash and was last seen running down Blue Gum Street.
He was described as in his early 20s, of pale complexion and was wearing a dark track suit with a hooded jumper and bright blue shoes.
Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
