Hunter Police are urging residents to be vigilant with their credit cards following the arrest of a man at The Junction.
The 27-year-old from Warners Bay is accused of breaking into a Merewether house earlier this month and stealing a credit card.
It's alleged he purchased clothing, a mobile phone and cigarettes using the Tap-And-Go method, where a person's credit card is swiped without any PIN required.
He's been refused bail to appear in Newcastle Local Court today charged with 9 offences.
