Police are investigating after a fire on King Street in Newcastle on Friday night.
Fire crews were called just before 11pm to a building at 74 King Street.
Five pump trucks and a duty commander attended the scene, only leaving around 1:30am early Saturday morning.
No injuries have been reported and no occupants were removed from the scene.
The two-storey weatherboard house is believed to be abandoned, but police have not ruled out the possibility of squatters living in the property.
The extent of the damage is not yet clear.
Investigations are ongoing.
