The Kurri Kurri community will be better protected during the upcoming bushfire season with the arrival of a new fire tanker.
The Izuzu multi-purpose four-wheel drive tanker is one of 18 being deployed to Fire and Rescue Stations across the state, each valued at $530,000.
It features a Compressed Air Foam System capable of dousing fires much faster and in a more environmentally friendly manner than previous tankers.
It's also fitted with a Halo sprinkler system which creates a shield of water over the cabin to protect the crew from fire.
