Victoria Parade at Nelson Bay is closed to traffic following an overnight bush fire.
A Fire and Rescue crew from Salamander Bay and an RFS team from Fingal Bay were called to Fly Point at about 10.00pm to find a large area of bush alight.
Newcastle Fire Command says no homes or property was under threat, although a large gum tree is in danger of falling, prompting the closure of Victoria Parade.
It took crews about 4 hours to bring the fire under control, which burnt through a 100 x 30 metre area of bush.
