The life of a previously mothballed coal mine near Muswellbrook looks set to be extended under a landmark agreement.
Australian Pacific Coal has advised the Stock Exchange its come to an agreement with the state government to modify its consent for the Dartbrook mine.
The Independent Planning Commission had previously approved the mine's restart but rejected an application to extend the mine's licence beyond 2022.
The deal means the mine will be able to continue operating for a further 5 years until December 2027.
The mine was mothballed in 2006 but looked set to resume production when it was sold to Australian Pacific Coal by Anglo American in 2016.
