Police have made a major breakthrough in their investigation into the large scale theft of copper cable in the Tomago area.
Officers and the Dog Squad were called to Tomago Aluminium just after 6.00pm on Wednesday after receiving reports of trespassers entering a large industrial shed.
They formed a cordon around the building and commenced a search, allegedly finding two men in the act of cutting up and stripping copper cable.
Inspector Dan Skelly says two men aged 32 and 41 are due to face Raymond Terrace Local Court today charged with several offences.
"The copper which they were in the action of cutting and stripping is worth about $10,000, so this is a significant amount of property," he said.
