Fire crews are battling a house fire at East Maitland.
Newcastle Fire Command says firefighters were called to Blackett Close just after 5am on Tuesday to find the two storey home well alight.
It's understood the occupants managed to escape unharmed.
Crews from East Maitland, Maitland, Tarro and Morpeth are at the scene.
An aerial unit is being sent from Newcastle Fire Station to help douse the flames.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage but is likely to be subject to an investigation by police and Fire and Rescue NSW.
