Police have arrested two teenagers over a fire which gutted two demountable buildings at a Raymond Terrace Public School overnight.
Six Fire and Rescue trucks and RFS crews were called to Irrawang Public School on Geer Street just after 10.30pm on Sunday to find the buildings well alight.
It's taken them four hours to extinguish and mop up the fire.
Police say a number of classrooms within the school grounds had been broken into and vandalised, causing significant damage.
Two boys aged 14 and 15 have been arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station.
A crime scene has been established as a forensic investigation continues.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
Principal, Stacy Mathieson has posted a note on Irrawang's Facebook page advising the school will be non-operational today (Monday 21 March, 2022) and students can access the Department of Education's Learning From Home Hub if they wish.
