Firefighters have been called back to the Wickham Wool Stores to reports of a re-ignition of the fire which destroyed two buildings last Tuesday.
Newcastle Fire Command says a small fire has broken out underneath the rubble of building one, with smoke drifting toward the Ampol fuel depot.
Due to the soft ground, a fire tanker from Tarro has been sent to assist with dousing the outbreak.
