St Francis Xavier's College Closed After 3rd Confirmed COVID-19 Case in Newcastle

Another Newcastle school has been closed following a third confirmed case of COVID-19.

St Francis Xavier's College at Hamilton will be closed today (Friday 7 August,2020) for deep cleaning and all 941 students and 125 staff have been asked to self-isolate until further notice.

Hunter New England Health says the latest case is a male teenager who is a household contact of the teenager from St Pius X High School at Adamstown as well as the man in his 20's announced on Thursday.

All close contacts of the latest case will contacted to self-isolate for 14 days.

Hunter New England Health says anyone who attended the school on Monday 3, Tuesday 4 or Wednesday 5 August is urged to be on the lookout for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested immediately should any respiratory symptoms or fever occur.

The Health authority is working to identify any further contacts or venues visited by the teenager and will issue further updates as more information becomes available.
