Firefighters Called To Gas Bottle Fire At Belmont

A man has treated for smoke inhalation after a gas bottle caught alight at Belmont.

Fire crews from Belmont and Tingira Heights were called to a home in Albert Street just after 7.30 last night, arriving to find a 9 kilogram gas bottle attached to a barbeque leaking and on fire.

They doused the flames and isolated the gas bottle, using a thermal imaging camera to determine it was safe.

Ambulance paramedics were called to treat the man after he was overcome by smoke and gas fumes.
