Lake Macquarie police have charged a man with high range drink driving for the second time in a week.

Just after 10.00pm on Saturday night, members of the public alerted police to a Holden Commodore Station Wagon being driven erratically at Fennell Bay.

Officers quickly located the car and pulled it over on Main Road.

The 47-year-old driver returned a positive roadside breath test and was taken to the Toronto Police Station where it's alleged he returned a reading of point 298 - almost 6 times the legal limit.

Officers seized his car keys and charged him with High Range Drink Driving -second offence - and Driving While Suspended - second offence.
