Residents in parts of Singleton are being advised to boil water due to potential health risks.
Singleton Council says residents of the Glade and Gowrie should follow the advice of NSW Health after sampling found water is unsafe to drink in the wake of recent heavy rainfall.
Water should be brought to a rolling boil to make it safe and then allowed to cool before being stored in a clean container with a lid and refrigerated.
Council says bottled water or cool boiled water should be used for all human consumption including food preparation, making ice and cleaning teeth.
Pet's drinking water should also be boiled.
Residents who are unable to boil water are being advised to use unscented household bleach (containing 4% - 5% available chlorine). Add 2 drops of bleach to 1 litre of water (or 4 drops if the water is cloudy), mix well and allow to stand for 30 minutes before use.
