UPDATE: Police Investigate Violent Home Invasion At Anna Bay

The target of a violent home invasion at Anna Bay on Tuesday has now been charged with several drug offences.

During the early hours of Tuesday morning, a 23-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by an unknown man as four other men began stealing items.

Police were contacted when the victim attended Tomaree Hospital and officers established a crime scene at his Ocean Avenue home after speaking with the man.

During a search of the home, officers allege they found cannabis, MDMA, ketamine, amphetamine, LSD, magic mushrooms and other substances believed to be illicit drugs.

Upon his release from hospital, the occupant was taken to Nelson Bay Police Station where he was charged with 11 counts of drug possession and three counts of drug supply.

Officers also charged the man over suspected stolen goods.

Police continue to investigate the home invasion and believe a number of items including drugs, cash and a television were stolen from the premises during the incident.

Port Stephens police are investigating a violent home invasion at Anna Bay.

Up to 5 men stormed a home on Ocean Avenue just after 3 o'clock on Tuesday morning and bashed a male occupant before running off.

The victim needed stitches for a head wound and was also treated for other injuries.

Police believe the incident may be drug-related.

It's not known at this stage if anyone else was inside the home at the time of the attack.
