Fire crews are battling a house fire at Cessnock.
Newcastle Fire Command says they received a triple zero call just after 9 o'clock, arriving to find the single level home in Francis Street well alight.
It's understood the occupants escaped unharmed including a child who self evacuated.
5 fire trucks and 25 firefighters from Cessnock, Bellbird, Kearsley and Paxton are working to bring the blaze under control.
No other properties are under threat from the fire.
