It's unclear when workers will be allowed to return to the Benaglla Coal Mine near Muswellbrook following the tragic death of a contractor.
Emergency services were called to the mine on Saturday night where they found a 37-year-old Scone man dead.
It's understood the man worked for a local tyre contracting company - it's believed he was carrying out routine maintenance on large plant tyres when he was fatally injured.
In a statement, the mining company has extended it's condolences to the family and colleagues of the contractor and is cooperating with investigators as they ascertain how the incident occurred.
