Government Rakes in Cash From Speeding Fines From Wallsend to Hamilton

BY IAN CROUCH

It's been revealed the state government has been raking in the cash from speeding fines since the speed limit was reduced along Thomas Street, Wallsend, Newcastle Road and Griffiths Road, Lambton six months ago.

The Herald has obtained figures showing almost 1.2 mllion dollars in fines were dished out from Speed Cameras along the route since the speed limit was reduced to 60 kilometres per hour in March.

It's a 469 percent jump in fines issued on the same period last year.
