An overnight fire which engulfed a garage at Cooks Hill is being treated as suspicious.
Firefighters from Newcastle and Merewether responded to a Triple-Oh call just after 10.30pm on Sunday to find the garage attached to a block of units in Darby Street well alight.
They've managed to douse the flames before they could spread to the adjoining units, however the garage and it's contents were badly damaged in the fire.
Newcastle Fire Command says none of the residents had to be evacuated.
