Man Charged Over Bag Snatch Of 90-Year-Old Woman At Toronto

UPDATE:

The young man who snatched a handbag from a 90-year-old woman on the weekend has been refused bail in Toronto Court.

The elderly woman was walking to her car when the 23-year-old rode up behind her and grabbed her bag on Sunday afternoon and took off.

He'll return to court on October 3.

EARLIER:

A man is due to front court today accused of snatching a handbag from a 90-year-old woman at Toronto.

Police say the elderly woman had been shopping at Toronto Town Square on Sunday afternoon and was returning to her car in Brighton Avenue when a young man on a pushbike rode up behind her, grabbed her handbag and rode off.


Fortunately the woman wasn’t hurt during the incident and reported the incident to police.

As a result of investigations, a 23-year-old man was arrested at a residence in Blackalls Park about 10.30pm on Monday and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with steal from person and breaching his bail.

He was refused bail and will appear in Toronto Local Court today (Tuesday 19 September 2017).
