Newcastle Restaurants In Hot Water Over Black Market Lobsters

BY IAN CROUCH

The owners of two Newcastle restaurants are facing hefty fines and possible gaol time after being caught trying to sell black market lobsters.

Fisheries officers raided a restaurant in the CBD, seizing 16 live and 12 frozen Eastern rock lobsters.

Another 17 were seized from a restaurant at Adamstown - two of which were a prohibited size.

It comes after officers seized a vehicle at Mayfield last month and allegedly found 40 Eastern rock lobsters.
