A man is due to front court today charges with firearm and drug offenses after police pulled over a car at East Maitland.
At about 11.40pm last night night, officers from Port Stephens-Hunter
Police District were patrolling Burke Street, when they noticed
a vehicle doing a U-Turn at the end of the street.
They pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the 30-year-old driver and
his female passenger.
A search of the vehicle allegedly located a firearm, three mobile phones and
drug paraphernalia including electronic scales.
Officers then searched the driver and allegedly located an amount of
prohibited drugs.
He was arrested and taken Maitland Police Station where he was charged with
possess firearm, drug possession and drug supply.
He was refused bail and will appear in Maitland Local Court today.
