Toddler Clinging To LIfe After Being Hit By Car At Woodberry

The parents of a two-year-old boy who was hit by a car at Woodberry at the weekend are maintaining a bedside vigil in the John Hunter Hospital.

The toddler remains in a critical condition after undergoing several hours of surgery.

The tragedy unfolded on Saturday night when 22-year-old Jessica Williams was reversing her Holden Commodore out of a driveway on Segenhoe Street and allegedly struck the little boy.

Neighbours say the woman was hysterical after she realised what had happened.

Police have since charged her with several offenses including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. It's also alleged she had illicit drugs in her system at the time of the incident.

She's been granted conditional bail to face Maitland Local Court on March 28
