Fire has caused severe damage to a house at Morisset overnight.
Firefighters from Fire and Rescue and the RFS were called to a single level home on Freemans Drive at about 5.30pm on Thursday, where they found one of the rooms on fire.
Newcastle Fire Command says no-one was injured, however some animals were rescued from the burning home.
Crews wrapped up firefighting duties at about 8 o'clock.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage, but it's not being treated as suspicious.
