The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has flown a seriously ill passenger to the John Hunter Hospital overnight, from a cruise ship 30 kilometres off the coast at Seal Rocks.
A critical care paramedic was winched onto the vessel in deteriorating weather.
A man in his 60s was suffering a medical episode, and winch-extracted from the cruise ship.
He was taken to the John Hunter in a serious but stable condition.
