New Hunter Ambulance Chief Vows To Address Bullying And Violence Towards Paramedics

BY IAN CROUCH

It's hoped a change at the top in the Hunter branch of the NSW Ambulance Service will herald a new era in workplace relations.

Jordan Emery has taken over as the region's chief officer, vowing to address a culture of bullying and the growing trend of violence towards paramedics on the streets.

Three Hunter paramedics have taken their own lives since 2008 reportedly due to workplace bullying and intimidation and Jordan Emery has told Fairfax he wants staff to feel free to raise issues with him directly.

Meanwhile he says working closely with police and at-risk groups in the community is the key to stopping violence towards paramedics on the job.
