Fire Stations On Show Across The Hunter For Open Day

BY IAN CROUCH

Everything you wanted to know about the work of our firefighters is on show today as part of Fire and Rescue NSW Open Day.

Most of the Hunter's FRNSW stations will be open to the public between 10.00am and 2.00pm.

There will be station tours, firefighting and mock rescue displays and fire safety demonstrations. You will also be able to hop in a fire truck and chat with firefighters to learn more about what they do every day. There will also be an array of activities for children - they will also be able to take home a "Brigades Kids" activity book, which teaches important fire safety lessons.

Apart from fighting fires, Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters are called to many emergency situations including chemical spills, car accidents and natural disasters. They also take part in prevention education and humanitarian relief across the state, the country and even overseas.
