Newcastle Police Issue Warning Over New Superman Tablet

BY IAN CROUCH

Newcastle Police will be targeting drug use at Summer festivals after several people were taken to hospital following a suspected overdose.

11 people were taken to the Calvary Mater and John Hunter Hospitals between last Friday and Monday night after taking a blue pill emblazoned with a Superman logo.

Inspector Shane Buggy says people are continuing to risk their lives by taking illicit drugs.

“You never know what it is in the pill you are about to take or what it may or may not contain. You will never know how your own body may react with any substance you might take; whether you have consumed illicit substances before or not," he said.

Anyone with information regarding the source of these tablets is urged to contact Newcastle Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
