Man Charged Over Alleged Abduction Of Hunter Valley Woman

A Maitland man has been charged over the alleged abduction of a Kurri Kurri woman.

Police say a 36-year-old man took a 33-year-old woman against her will at about 3.15am on Friday October 6 and were last seen at about 8.00am the following day.

The pair were found at a property on Pinkett Road, Red Range, about 30km east of Glen Innes, just after 5.30pm on Saturday following an extensive search.

The man was arrested and taken to Glen Innes Police Station where he was charged with 8 offences including take/detain a person, aggravated sexual assault, failing to stop during a police pursuit and breaching an AVO.

He's due to face Armidale Local Court today.

The woman was taken to the John Hunter Hospital suffering minor injuries.
