A warning is going out to Hunter pharmacies amid reports fake prescriptions are being used to obtain potentially dangerous drugs.
The Pharmacists Association says there's been a spike in counterfeit scripts in recent weeks for highly addictive drugs like Xanax and Endone.
It's understood the medications carry a high value on the black market.
Typically, the scripts are from pads of the handwritten variety and are said to look very authentic, but some are being printed on official health department paper.
It comes as at least three Hunter pharmacies detected fraudulent scripts within a week.
