Loaded Firearm Seized During Vehicle Stop At Dora Creek

A man is facing firearm offences after being pulled over by police at Dora Creek.

Officers stopped a silver Daihatsu Charade on Gardeners Street at about midday on Tuesday.

It's alleged the 30-year-old driver failed a roadside drug test.

Officers then searched the car and allegedly found a loaded gun and stolen groceries.

The man was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with shoplifting, possess loaded firearm public place, possess unregistered unauthorised prohibited firearm in public place, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit, and resist officer in execution of duty.

He was refused bail and is due to front Newcastle Local Court today (Wednesday 25 October 2017).
