Extended Hours for Beresfield Pool and Ideas for More Upgrades

BY JESSICA ROUSE and SAMUEL ISAAC

The possibility of a water park for Beresfield and upgrades to Lambton Swimming Centre are two plans being looked at for the future by Newcastle Council.

At last night's council meeting, councillors were in agreeance to investigate the idea of building a water park in Beresfield in the future and upgrading the facilities at Lambton which is one of the oldest pools in the area.

Among the options for Lambton's pool include replacing existing pools, filtration and heating systems, grandstand and shade structures, upgrading amenities and including spaces for other activities like work out rooms and adding extra parking.

The big win from last nights meeting for locals was the extension of the opening hours of Beresfield Pool. The pool will now be open earlier and for longer.

Independent Councillor Kath Elliot, says that the developments are being put forward to provide quality facilities to local families.
