The teenage Maitland Rugby player who struck a referee during the Under 19's Grand Final has been banned from the sport for 10 years.
18-year-old Mark Meafua fronted a two hour hearing at the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union Judiciary on Wednesday night where he pleaded guilty to striking 19-year-old referee Niklass Gaul last weekend after being given a yellow card.
Meafua has also been charged with common assault and is due to face court next month.
