Police bust Beresfield house with $600,000 cannabis operation

BY DAKOTA TAIT

Police have seized a cannabis stash worth more than half a million dollars at a Beresfield home this week.

Officers with the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District say they were called to a house at Delprat Avenue on Sunday, finding a large and complicated hydroponic setup in multiple rooms of the house.

They also found a large amount of cannabis plants.

Police put a guard on the premises until they were able to execute a crime scene warrant on Monday.

273 cannabis plants were seized, with a street value estimated at around $600,000.

The house was unoccupied, though police have forensically examined the house and are hoping to have a result soon.

Investigations are ongoing, and police are appealing to public for information.
